DHL Stormers players Schalk Burger, Duane Vermeulen, Nizaam Carr and Danie Poolman swapped their rugby kit for courier outfits on Thursday 21 June when they took on the role of DHL couriers in the streets of Johannesburg.
Visiting 5FM and Metro FM, the players surprised the breakfast radio teams and presented Gareth Cliff, Unathi Msengana and their teams with personalised signed DHL Stormers jerseys. Whilst at Metro FM Nizaam Carr tested his other talent and ‘auditioned’ in front of Unathi, singing to over 6 million listeners on air.
The players then paid a surprise visit to Sunday Times editor, Ray Hartley where they presented him with a signed Stormers jersey and took photographs with Avusa staff.
Playing couriers for the day, some of DHL’s top clients were presented with signed jerseys and rugby balls to reward them for their continued loyalty. Clients receiving their deliveries seemed overwhelmed by their personal visit by the DHL Stormers.
Sumesh Rahavendra, Head of Marketing for DHL Sub Saharan Africa comments,”Whether its on or off the field, the DHL Stormers really deliver great value for consumers, and the Courier Run provided a fantastic opportunity for them to do something special for our top customers and media partners.”
