Singapore GP Hello everyone! I don’t know about you, but yesterday’s race was arguably one of the most uneventful races of the season so far. When Martin Brundle said that the race was exciting in the post race interviews with the drivers I wondered if we were watching the same race. Yawn. For the last few races I’ve really been left with a ‘meh’ feeling – something’s not what it used to be and I can’t place my finger on it. That aside, there were a few highlights that stood out yesterday in Singapore.
Firstly, congratulations to Sebastian Vettel who, after almost being overtaken by Rosberg at the start, dominated the rest of the race. It’s hard to believe this 26 year old has only been racing in F1 for 6 years. To me personally he is brilliant, and the constant booing we are hearing on the podium now is uncalled for in my opinion. But some fans will always dislike a driver who dominates, showing how fickle most can be.
Another driver who keeps delivering is Fernando Alonso. With an incredible start seeing him jumping from 7th place all the way up to 3rd, followed by a great strategy move, the Spaniard was able to clinch 2nd place at the checkered flag. For me him and Vettel were the drivers of the day, both had flawless performances.
There was some minor ‘actual racing’ taking place towards the closing stages of the Grand Prix, with a great scrap for 8, 9 and 10th place being fought out. Unfortunately Mark Webber’s car lost power on the last lap, which saw his engine ignite, forcing Mark to park his car. The bad luck didn’t end there for Mark, who was handed a 10 place grid penalty by the stewards for the next race in Korea for catching a lift with Fernando. A bit harsh if you ask me, but the steward’s decisions are final.
With Seb now 60 points ahead of his championship rival, Fernando Alonso, it seems like the German is on his way to clinching his fourth consecutive title.
See you bright and early on 6 October for the Koren GP!
