The Toyota Cheetahs are sporting a new logo for the first season as the franchise is no longer shared between unions, but rather solely by the Toyota Free State Cheetahs. Since this news was broken in November last year, us Cheetahs fans were eagerly awaiting the launch of the new kit. That wait is finally over as today PUMA unveil the new Cheetahs Rugby jersey for the 2016
Confusion SupeRugby tournament.
After a one season trial away from the white kit, tradition has kicked back in for the inaugural season and the first under coach Franco Smith, with an all-white Home strip and Orange returning to the away kit. The new logo shows a sprinting Cheetah and the identification has been further impressed with a superb Cheetah watermark symbolising a new generation for Cheetahs Rugby.
Toyota Cheetah’s Managing Director, Harold Verster, said: “PUMA has once again delivered an outstanding jersey, that brings together the traditions of the Toyota Cheetahs and the modern outlook on the game of rugby. We look forward to seeing the new generation Cheetah players make their mark in this year’s SupeRugby competition.”
“It gives PUMA great pleasure to introduce the new kit design for the 2016 season – we know we have kept the fans waiting for this one and we hope that they like the design which symbolizes the Team moving into a new era. We wish the Team and Management all the best of PUMA luck for the coming season,” said PUMA South Africa’s Marketing Director Brett Bellinger.

My love for the Cheetahs is well documented on All Things Jabu (I mean I have even adopted a Cheetah at De Wildt Sanctuary) and I am excited for the 2016 season, not for the format, but for the further growth of our team under the tutelage of Franco Smith. Anyway, I better run so I can suggest to my wife a valentines day present.
